Wedding planning can be very daunting to some and certainly the thought of a planner is a no brainer. Q: Common mistakes for couples?
A: Most commonly made mistakes involve budget, venue, and the date of the wedding. Knowing your budget limits will help filter your search and also help you avoid disappointment when it comes to something that may be over your budget. Booking your venue first is the most important advice! You never know how booked the venue of your dreams will be, you don’t want to plan a perfect date before you try and get a venue, you may end up disappointed if they’re booked on your day. And of course setting your date is very important as all the vendors will vary in availability, you want to make sure you can set up all the things you need for your date.
Q: The best tip for couples planning a wedding?
A: The best tip is of course to book your venue first, doing this gives you sort of a double whammy by not only setting your location but it also gives you a date which is really important to know for all your other vendors.
Q: What is a day of coordinator?
A: Day of coordinators do just that, be there the day of. Their responsibile for the set up and takedown of the event, as well as working with vendors to keep things running smoothly.
Q: What is the role of a wedding planner?
A: To answer this question it’s important to know the difference of a wedding planner and an event coordinator. A wedding planner is someone that is hired from the very beginning of planning to help you every step of the way. They plan, design, and execute your wedding. An event coordinator is typically someone that works for the venue that is there only the day of the to make sure all the functions and amenities of the venue go smoothly.
Q: What questions should couples ask?
A: Typically couples are not sure what to ask for from the vendors, once a vendor gives you a proposal it’s important to know that you can change things you don’t like. Another thing couples tend to struggle with is negotiating, a wedding planner can handle the negotiations for you to help you avoid the stress. Lastly, asking about the details in a vendors contract is very important. Don’t be afraid to ask why something is or isn’t in the contract.
Q: Most memorable wedding and why?
A: One of the first weddings Joyeux Events planned was Mrs Pakistan USA’s wedding. Not only was it exciting to have her as a client, she also had 600 multicultural guests attending her wedding! Putting together the design of the whole event was challenging but a very fun and rewarding experience.
Q: Last piece of advice for couples?
A: Take the time to spend together! Taking a break from the planning and coming together can help refresh you from all the frustrations. It’s important to remember why you‘re doing this in the first place!
